current number of Covid-19 cases in India
Corona Updates:Just when the world was beginning to believe that COVID-19 is now a thing of the past, reports of new infection waves from Singapore, Hong Kong and China have again raised global concerns. India may appear stable in terms of infection for the time being, but the government has taken the signs of this global change seriously.
The Union Health Ministry on Monday conducted an in-depth review of the country's COVID-19 situation. The meeting, chaired by the Director General of Health Services, was attended by experts from NCDC, ICMR, Disaster Management Cell and major government hospitals. According to sources, India has a total of 257 active cases so far, most of whom are recovering without hospitalization.
The meeting clearly instructed that all states should keep a close watch on influenza-like illnesses and respiratory infections so that any potential wave can be detected in time.
The new form of Omicron, variant JN.1 and its sub-variants LF.7 and NB.1.8, is spreading rapidly in many countries of Asia. A sudden jump in infection rates in Singapore and Hong Kong has put the governments there on alert mode. This variant has not yet spread widely in India, but the process of screening and genome sequencing of international passengers at airports has been accelerated.
After the death of two Covid-infected patients at KEM Hospital in Mumbai recently, the market of rumours heated up. But the hospital administration clarified the situation and said that these deaths were due to chronic diseases like hypocalcemia and cancer, and not due to corona infection. This gives a clear message that there is a need to be cautious, not to panic.
Actress Shilpa Shirodkar informed on social media that she has been found to be Covid positive. However, her symptoms are extremely mild and She is in home isolation. This incident shows that the virus is not completely eradicated yet, and carelessness in normal life can prove costly.
The Covid situation in India is under control, but to maintain this situation, the alertness of the government as well as the common people is equally important. Simple measures like masks, hygiene and social distancing are our first and most effective shield against this unseen enemy.
